Overview & How to Play

Pug Life Slot: Overview & How to Play

From all the quirky releases we have seen from Hacksaw Gaming in the past few years, one always anticipates what could be the next eccentricity brewing inside the game provider’s creative department. As it turns out, Hacksaw has turned to the adorable side of life by introducing a canine-themed slot titled Pug Life. Even though the name refers to the game protagonist, Pugly the Pug, we find all kinds of critters here to give the slot a more dynamic appeal.

While there have not been many popular instances of pet-themed slots, the one that shines out the most is Pragmatic Play’s The Dog House, which remains an epitome of this genre. But the sheer dominance of The Dog House shouldn’t go unquestioned, and this time, the critter revolt comes from Hacksaw. It’s about time to find out how well the slot upholds as a competitor as well as a standalone game.

Slot Description

Pug Life unfolds in a 5 reels and 4 rows grid panel with 16 fixed paylines. Wagering in the game starts from 0.10 coins and moves up to 100 coins per spin. With these feasible betting margins, expect wins at frequent intervals since Pug Life has medium variance  (rated 3 out of 5). And given Hacksaw’s record with mid-volatility slots, Pug Life comes off as an improvement with its max prize offer: the game awards an impressive 7,500x the stake

Pug Life RTP of 96.33% is another impressive stat to peer at. However, RTPs are theoretical and often do not hold to their value during short gaming sessions. But on average, having an RTP score above 96% is always better, and from this aspect, Pug Life looks to be doing pretty well. The statistics get further boosted by the slot’s hit frequency of 29%, which suggests the likelihood of landing wins within every 4 spins or so.

In our first impression of the game, we found the production value of Pug Life to be of a superior quality than The Dog House. However, the results become far more interesting when it comes down to the business end of things. While the game doesn’t deviate much from the statistics mentioned above, a few insights might help you decide whether to put real money into the game.

Pug Life: Slot Verdict

Even though Pug Life looks jolly and brimming with cuteness, the math might sometimes pull an angry growl on you. To domesticate the harshness, Hacksaw has toned down the game to medium variance without compromising too much. However, as is usually the case with mid-volatility slots, the payouts are frequent but do not offer a big sum for the most part. But for those who love balancing risk and rewards, Pug Life may be a good choice.  As for features, it becomes clear that the slot heavily relies on multipliers in both bonus segments. The Treat Yo'Self feature provides the multiplier leverage by making Treat symbols sticky. However, things become much more fascinating when multiple Treat symbols land in a winning combination. On the other hand, the Dawg's Den offers higher potential to take you closer to the big prize. However, hitting Toasters was a rare occurrence in the bonus feature. Coming to the Buy Bonus segment, our experience wasn't too great with it. The purchase price and the promised outcome were poles apart in most sessions. And when we sometimes managed to pull up profits, the margin was about 78x the stake. Of course, the results may vary significantly in your case, so it's up to you to decide whether to risk using the buy bonus menu to head toward the bonus rounds instantly.    In conclusion, Pug Life is a decent Hacksaw slot with elevating moments. Although, we still find The Dog House standing at the top in the pet genre. But if you are fascinated with multipliers and charming visuals, Pug Life has ample elements to keep you hooked.
